Trial-By-Combat: The Death Cup

The Red Village is launching To-The-Death, the most exhilarating game mode in Web3 gaming, with a huge Championship known simply as The Death Cup.

Barracks bold and brave do bellow,

Across the village square, a cold wind blows. Starting as a whisper high in the jagged peaks to the North of the village, it grows in terrible strength as it tumbles down the barren, rocky faces of the mountains. Violently, now, it strikes the tall pine trees of the Forgotten Forest, which bend toward the frozen ground, relentlessly buffeted by the invisible force.

Shards of ice; cold, hard, fling like needles into bolted doors and ricochet off abandoned log-fires, the embers dancing fleetingly across the snowy ground before disappearing into oblivion. The wind is deafeningly loud, screeching across the cobbled stones, but the village is perfectly quiet. Not a voice can be heard. All are waiting with baited breath.

In the Blooded Queen’s fiery court, Corsenia dips a ring of finest gold and ruby into a small bowl; the thick, red, liquid within warmed by a tiny flame. Without a second’s thought, she stamps the parchment in front of her.

On the air, the distant sound of horns.

What is The Death Cup?

To celebrate the launch of the most exhilarating, innovative, and exciting game mode in Web3 gaming, To-The-Death mode, otherwise known as 1v1, Death Matches, or Play-For-Keeps, The Red Village team are thrilled to announce The Death Cup — a high stakes, high reward Tournament aimed to promote and engage the Community in this frightening game mode, which is unlike anything else on the blockchain.

The Death Cup is a series of gameplay and social milestones, which will encourage certain activities and reward the bravest players over the first month across the launch of Death matches. The Death Cup will run from June 30 (GMT), until July 28 (GMT).

The incentives will range from Easter Egg numbers, to weekly prizes for the most Champion wins and most Barracks wins, prizes for milestones such as the first R1 Undead Play-For-Keeps, as well as thousands of $USD for community-voted prizes for Best Call-Outs, Best Smack-Talk, and Bravest fights. This will be run in conjunction with our friend Scuer.eth at www.TRVTools.com. Details below.

Gameplay Incentives

Gameplay Incentives: Easter Egg Numbers

Easter Egg Numbers will run for the four weeks of The Death Cup. The TRV team has used a random number generator (RNG) to pick 100 numbers between 1 and 1,000. These numbers are not known by the community.

These 100 numbers each correlate to a To-The-Death match; if you are the winner of a Death match that matches a randomly generated number, you will also win a $100USD top up for that match. For example: if number 55 was picked by the RNG, and you were the winner of the 55th To-The-Death match, you would not only win the stake you were playing for, but also a $100USD top-up from the TRV team.

That is a 1 in 10 chance of getting a $100USD top-up over the first 1,000 To-The-Death matches. Easy.

Weekly Prizes Leaderboard (Most Wins per Champion)

There are four, week long, leaderboards which will track the Most Wins per Champion in To-The-Death mode over each week. These will be tracked through TRVTools. First, second, and third place will be rewarded in $USD.

Milestones:

  • First Undead Play-For-Keeps ($100USD)
  • First Champion to enter five Play-For-Keeps matches ($100USD)

Terms and conditions: For the Gameplay incentives and Milestones, any evidence of fighting your own Barracks/Champions against each other from different wallets will result in your Barracks being disqualified from all rewards.

Social Incentives

Community-voted “Best Call-Out” #TRVCallOut

This incentive is for the best “call-outs” made on social media. Calling out another Battlemaster and encouraging them to accept a To-The-Death challenge against your Champion. For example, you might make a video, write a poem, or sing a ballad as a challenge. Five finalists will be picked by the highest number of likes on a tweet. You MUST use the hashtag #TRVCallOut to be eligible for this prize.

The TRV team will also pick their five favourite Call-Outs, making ten finalists in total. A vote in Discord will be held for the community to choose its favourite Call-Outs from these ten finalists. In total, there will be FIVE (5) winners of $200USD for this prize, which runs for the full month of The Death Cup.

Community-voted “Best Smack Talk” #TRVSmackTalk

This incentive is for the best pre-fight “smack-talk.” Try and get inside your Opponent’s head before the challenge occurs; psych them out! Call them cowards, show off your Rocky-style pre-fight montage…

Five finalists will be picked by the highest number of likes on a tweet. You MUST use the hashtag #TRVCallOut to be eligible for this prize.

The TRV team will also pick their five favourite Smack-Talkers, making ten finalists in total. A vote in Discord will be held for the community to choose its favourite Smack-Talkers from these ten finalists. In total, there will be FIVE (5) winners of $200USD for this prize, which runs for the full month of The Death Cup.

Community-voted “Bravest Battlemasters” #TRVBrave

This one is for winners only; show off how brave your Champion really is after the fight is over, the blood is cleaned off, and you have come home victorious. Maybe your peasant took down Simona Stormwolf in a brutal display of force, or maybe you bet Dire Wolf’s life on a hunch. Either way, you won — let the world know why they should fear you!

Five finalists will be picked by the highest number of likes on a tweet. You MUST use the hashtag #TRVBrave to be eligible for this prize.

The TRV team will also pick their five favourite Braves, making ten finalists in total. A vote in Discord will be held for the community to choose its favourite Braves from these ten finalists. In total, there will be FIVE (5) winners of $200USD for this prize, which runs for the full month of The Death Cup.

Terms and conditions:
For the Social incentives, you must:

  • Post to twitter and use the correct hashtag
  • The five most liked tweets for each hashtag will go through to the final, as well as five that are chosen by the TRV Team as their favourites, making ten in total for each category
  • The community will then vote on the five final winners in Discord, in a custom channel that will be opened, where the five most liked posts for each category will win
  • Tweets must be dated between June 30 and July 28, 2022 (GMT)
